Deep City

I guess most people enjoy being lobotomized.

Storage Wars plus Dog the Bounty Hunter equals ratings.

by Sean O'Neal January 27, 2011

"The rougher, tougher, sleeve-eschewing-er A&E had the No. 1 original program on cable with last night’s episode of Storage Wars—both the most-watched episode in Storage Wars’ brief history and the top show across the whole of cable with 3.3 million viewers. The No. 2 show? The 200th episode of Dog The Bounty Hunter, which had its largest audience since 2006 and brought in 3 million viewers overall. The nation’s rapacious hunger for repossession and bear mace knows no bounds."

Deep Thoughts: Oscar Edition

If you had told me ten years ago that Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, David O. Russell, and the Coen Brothers would all be nominated for Best Director at the same time, I would never have believed it.

Finally Seeing Some Light

I've discussed several times with Schwizza the frustrations of Sam Sifton's rating criteria, and the disappointment with The Breslin only getting 1 star (as well as The Spotted Pig before it from Frank Bruni because of the stools). And so the review of the John Dory Oyster Bar seemed a forgone conclusion.

But ho! What's this?! 2 Stars!!!

Way to kill it Schwizza!

Happy Belated 4th Birthday to the BLOG!

Have we come full circle? Another Feldman birthday, Jets and Pats are playing against each other in the playoffs again, and this coming Saturday night...we may revisit "Bush diving." Please see the blog entry below by Josh (on 1/3/2007).

In another note: I am now letting un-registered users comment to the blog. Several members of the blog have lobbied successfully to allow for this to happen. However, you will now have to be subjected to some "security" via word verification so that we don't get spammed like crazy. Here's to the blog...from 125 page views in January 2007 to close to 5,000 page views in January 2011.  Clearly, we have some fans, spies, and voyeurs. Keep on bloggin' and sharing your thoughts.

more news, zionist animal edition

An Egyptian official believes that Israel's intelligence agency might be behind the fatal shark attack of a German tourist in Sinai over the weekend, the Jerusalem Post reports. "What is being said about the Mossad throwing the deadly shark (in the sea) to hit tourism in Egypt is not out of the question, but it needs time to confirm," South Sinai Gov. Muhammad Abdel Fadil Shousha told egynews.net.

Saudi Arabian security services have captured a vulture suspected of being a Mossad spy from Israel. The bird, complete with a GPS transmitter and a tag bearing the identification code R65 from Tel Aviv University, strayed into rural Saudi Arabian territory at some point last week, according to a report in the Israeli daily Ma'ariv. Locals apparently suspected a Zionist plot, or at the very least espionage, and alerted the security services.

I guess there is some precedent to this paranoia. Iran arrested squirrels for spying a few years ago. I bet if we dig deep enough we'll find out that monkeys caused Lehman Bros to collapse.

Anyway....let me use this animal blog to send Mushu some love, get better quick little guy!

And here's Colbert's take on the shark:
