I was there last night

This was amazing! I was looking right down the third base line as this happened. The ovation that followed was unlike anything I've seen at a game before. I've been at games where guys hit epic homers, and the crowd goes crazy, but basically those just become party situations. For this, it was the longest sustained roar I have ever heard of people screaming at the top of their lungs for a solid minute because they couldn't believe that they had just been witness to a steal of home plate. It was incredible!

Survey Time

In continued work for the research that we are doing in one of my classes for the U.S. offices of Australian Rules Football, I ask you all to please take the following survey...

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=XH7O6XAfC2XZWTAXrgwh3Q_3d_3d

You don't have to know anything about Aussie Rules, and the survey shouldn't take you that long. We're just looking to present the League with what americans perception of the game is, so I'd appreciate it if everyone could complete the survey.

...and if you complete the survey, Sol won't mess with the burger he cooks you on saturday.

I learned at dinner last night that baby carrots are grown-up carrots chopped into smaller pieces and peeled. This morning Wikepedia told me that most baby carrots (75%) come from Bakersfield.

happy passover!

Thought you might want to know...

My sister has a friend who is a vet who told me that because bulldogs are breed to have big heads, they need to be delivered via a C section. Apparently it's a fairly cruel practice for the bulldog mom, says my sister's vet friend.

And well documented: http://www.google.com/searchhl=en&q=bulldog+c+section&aq=f&oq=

Stomper and His Magic Crayon (draws back!)

A bootleg Bootleg

And then Go See this Movie

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's going to be good. One of those movies that is supposed to be about more than just baseball...follows a kid from the Dominican into to world of U.S. baseball.

Also it's made by the same people that made Half Nelson. I don't know how any of you felt about that movie, but I thought it was real good, the filmmakers were at columbia at the same time we were, and are good friends with Tze. So I feel like there's some third degree of support we could be offering here.

Go See This Movie

Why? Well, for one, Mr. Mike Zegen's got a solid 5 minutes of screentime in it, including first billing in the credits!

For another, it's actually quite good - well-written, well-acted.

For a third, it's getting murdered at the box-office by "Fast & Furious"

:(

An honest moment between strangers

Touching, really:
