Lovett or Hate it?
Didn't get much reaction to last week's post.
Ben and Dave have stated interest. Anyone else? in either the concert, or even just coming up for the weekend following the concert?

Notties Galore
As an FYI to anyone not Facebook pals with Tristan, there is a "not-at-all-Matt-affiliated" comedy show this weekend at the Kraine Theater.
Again, I had zero to do with this, so I will neither vouch for the quality nor attempt to guilt anyone into going, but I will likely be there at least two nights if anyone feels like joining me.

August Upstate
A few of us visited the Ommegang Brewery just outside of Cooperstown, NY this past weekend (shown below). It's in quite the beautiful tucked-away setting.
While we were there, we discovered that Lyle Lovett is playing a concert there on August 12th. So here's the idea...
A weekend upstate, with home base being either Athas's place in East Durham or Ben's place in Cazenovia, that would include: Lovett, Baseball Hall of Fame, and general summertime outdoorsy fun.
There are a couple issues with the Lovett concert: August 12th is a Thursday, and tickets are $55 in advance. However, if you've never really listened to Lovett before, you should know that he puts on a great show. His voice is so smooth, he's got a large band that plays with him (so more swinging music than your typical country music fare), and he's got a tremendously funny dry wit (you're guaranteed to laugh...and which probably explains how Julia Roberts married him).
The Lovett concert probably doesn't make or break the trip. Obviously people could come up just for the weekend proper. But I wanted to get a feel from you guys to see if any or all of these ideas sound interesting to anyone.

26.2 10.10.10
Alrighty - it's that time again, when I ask for the JJ8 family's help in raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in return for my running 26.2 miles like an insane person. My goals for this fall (besides not dying, passing out or yelling at strangers, my coach or police officers on the race course) are to beat my New Jersey Marathon time by 11 minutes and 25 seconds and to raise $5000 to fight leukemia and other blood cancers.
Look how happy I look after my last marathon! (This picture does not reflect my attitude during miles 21.5-25.5, during which I DID yell at strangers, a police officer and my coach). I will be even happier after the Chicago Marathon, assuming it is prettier than Jersey (likely) and not 95 degrees.
The title is a live link to my Fundraising Page and to more pictures of me in running clothes.
Thanks everyone!
