ROOMMATE OLYMPICS 2008
THE ROOMMATE OLYMPICS (June 13-14):
Mission statement: to establish beyond a reasonable doubt the brightest star of the roommate & former roommate firmament.
Bounty: the combined pot of entrance fees ($10 per team), possibly a trophy
The Events: As you know, the roommate Olympics is by tradition, a two-day decathlon. The list below was compiled based on feedback, a balance of type, past enthusiasm, and feasibility. Everything should be self-explanatory. Pictionary/Charades was a pseudo biathlon mentioned. I was thinking you could decide whether to act or draw. Maybe before the clue is given. Non-competing organizers are listed where necessary.
Day 1 Indoor (we'll say Track day):
Mario Kart
Trivia Contest (org)
Pictionary/Charades
NewlyWed Game
Bowling
Day 2 Outdoor (we'll say Field day)
Horse
Dodgeball
Taboo
Egg Toss
Scavenger Hunt (org)
Scoring: for first 5 places (10, 8, 5, 3, 1)
I will Need:
-Your Pairings as a participants (submit by email). Right now I have from the 04 edition:
Gabi & Josh
John & Ben
Adz & Nad
Schwartz & Joe
Ashley&Sol
Dave& Hubert
-Petitions for/against events (There is no drinking game as of yet)
-The Emails of anyone else that should get this information.

Super Delegates
Can someone please explain to me what usefulness the super delegates are showing!?!?!? I mean seriously. This party is such an embarrassment it would be laughable if it weren't so serious. You mean after 21 debates, 18 months of campaigning, billions of pages of news, and 3 months and counting of grotesqueries passing for stories and campaigning that they are still undecided. What are these "party leaders" waiting for??? Could you be more gutless. While you're hiding under the bed in the fetal position, the party is getting cleaved in two. One candidate is turning an agreement she signed into a civil rights struggle and calcifying total oposition to her party's front-runner. The other candidate is reduced to a whimpering supplicant because if he says anything to challenge her he might offend her increasingly rigid supporters.
Isn't this exactly what the superdelegates were created to do?!?! They all are concerned that this is going on too long, meanwhile, by definition, it can't end until they say so. This is an embarrassment on so many levels it defies description. Now I remember why I was an independent until this primary season. The math hasn't changed since the end of February. They could have ended it then. Furthermore, then the 2 sides wouldn't have gotten so intractable, wouldn't have had to get so personal, so ugly, and so sidetracked by identity, association, and the continuing Victim Olympics.

Road Trip to Sconnie
Let the disasterous wedding trip planning commence!
Which is to say that the planning will be a disaster, not the trip itself, nor certainly the wedding.
That picture in the email = ADORABLE.

good music, good times, good cause
hey folks
as many of you know i do a lot of work with cornell's free student-run health clinic. we see patients who don't have health insurance, for free.
one of the dude's working at the clinic, along with a friend who is a promoter, organized a show at webster hall on may 21st. so far the bands i know of that are playing are "jukebox, the ghost" and "the hymns" - both have been on NPR, jukebox was at SXSW.
anyway you all should come. it's $25. it will be a good time. and between donating to christy's AIDS walk fund and coming to this concert, you can feel really good about yourselves.

Retroactive Move
Sorry for neglecting to post this before the fact, but this weekend I announced the Saturday and Sunday UMass baseball games against Dayton University. It wasn't for the radio exactly, but for the internet webcast. The first game was a fun and brisk 2 hour, 15 minute affair. The second was a brutal 4 hour, 15 minute grind--a 15 inning, 5-4 game that should have ended twice before it finally did. I love baseball, but by the 12th inning I had run out of things to say...and almost run out of the will to live. If you'd like to see the box score, here it is:

Unfortunately, I had to miss Athas' movie. Hope it went well. I hope the party was a hit, and no JJ8ers are now facing incarceration for inappropriate behavior with a 15 year-old starlet.
