Even I feel bad

R-missle, Even I feel bad now. The Mets are crushing my spirit. A 5 run lead? This is just bullshit.

Apparently, history is "on their side" though. No major league team has failed to finish first after having at least a seven-game advantage with 17 remaining. God, just seeing that in print is ridiculous.

We should have a mets game watching party this weekend. They are obviously the blog cause celebre.

  1. pb, times are indeed tough. there has been talk of seeing this train wreck unfold in person on Saturday. bring airsickness bags. imb, any word on ticket availability?

for every subsequent loss i expect willie randolph with a samurai sword to ceremonially remove a reliever's pitching arm on the mound. that is only way this team can restore its honor and the honor of its fan.

  3. this is ridiculous. It makes you wonder how they ever won a game. They are cloaked in failure.

  5. Not to take away from the pain and frustration that all the Mets fans are deeling with, but I would honestly feel much worse for Philly fans if they were to lose the division outright after having taken the lead with only 2 games to go in the season than I would for Mets fans if they were to lose the division after blowing a 7 game lead with 17 to play.

If anyone needs a respite from torture and frustration, it's sports fans from Philadelphia.

  6. I'll cop to a bit - a small bit - of schadenfraude here, mostly because I know I'd never hear the end of it if the situations were reversed. Still, this is like rooting for M. Night Shyamalan's next movie to tank and then he dies horribly in a plane crash.

The real question is: do you fire Willie? And since the answer to that should be a resounding yes, who replaces him?
