Senator Mix-A-Lot Sponsors Titties-On-Glass Legislation
November 13, 2002 | ISSUE 38• The Onion
08.27.09 WASHINGTON, DC—Seeking to stem a four-year decline in freaky Yolandas throwing they titties on U.S. glass, U.S. Sen. Mix-A-Lot (B-WA) introduced sweeping new putting-'em-on-glass legislation Tuesday. "Now listen up, Uncle Sam / I wanna see soul sistas pressin' that ham / Make me say damn / I wanna rear-end 'em / So I'm callin' a Senate referendum / Bounce by the ounce don't make no fun / I'll take 'em by the ton, son," Mix-A-Lot said. "Don't hand this bill down to no committees / 'Cause Mix don't wait on monster titties / Note to my colleague Tom Daschle / That if the babies be gettin' bashful / No melons droppin' on my windshield / So get them nudie laws repealed." Mix-A-Lot then gave props to the authors of H.R. 1610, from which several key clauses were sampled.

More Death
So a couple of things here:
1) In case you haven't heard Freddy's is closing on April 30th - THIS Friday (the day before the derby-q). I imagine it will be a total car/train/airplane wreck of a night.
2) Donald O' Finn - the older dude who manages and bartends - has a youtube channel with a lot of great things, among them is this real gem of a song about the end of Freddy's. I listened to it about 11 times in a row.

3) This is really too bad.

From JFK 2 LAX
Even if the gift wasn't quite unlimited, I'm gonna miss ya... RIP Guru... Rhymes from a time when hip-hop hadn't been completely monetized and monotonized.
(and there is no bigger fuck-you to my sense of youth than a 90s hip-hop all-star dropping dead of natural causes) (self-sniffles son)

'Death at a Funeral' Revisited
So the NY Times published an article yesterday delving into the genesis of the remake of the movie 'Death at a Funeral' that I brought to the attention of the blog several weeks ago. Basically it was an idea that Chris Rock came up with that he didn't expect anyone to take very seriously, except that everyone did. If you want to read the article, here's the link.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/11/movies/11funeral.html?ref=movies
None of this would be all that interesting except that I thought the very end of the article was really funny and needed to be shared.
In the initial reading for the American script the black actor Tony Cox (“Bad Santa”) played the role, but Mr. Culpepper thought the part should be played by a white actor. That’s how Mr. Dinklage became what Mr. LaBute called the “connective tissue” to the British version.
“At first I was a little protective of the original,” Mr. Dinklage said. “How could they?” But now, he said, he wonders why he wasn’t asked to be in “Daddy Cool,” a 2009 Bollywood version of the story. “You could do it in the Amazon rain forest. You could explore all the different styles of funerals across the world. I plan to do this movie in every country across the world.”
I find this funny for two reasons: 1) Peter Dinklage's comments obviously show that he's as sharp witted as Christy said he is, and 2) It's possible that the funniest version of this movie may be the one we have the least access to.
Bollywood. 'Daddy Cool'. Genius!

Live in Concert: A JJ8er
My band old band from college and I are doing a concert Saturday at 7pm at Zorzi on 35th and 5th to raise money for Haiti via Partners in health (http://www.pih.org/home2.html). It's an awesome organization and should be a fun evening of Soul, R&B, Pop, and other fun grooves.
Hopefully some of you can help us raise money and raise some cash. I'll be headlining a couple soul classics. So there's the opportunity to see a jj8er embarrass himself.
