Big cop-out on grading George Lucas. Sounds like an avoidance of his late career putridity. How about if we change the question a little. Instead of giving his career a single letter grade, what would you say Lucas' career gpa would be?
I think you have to grade him in different ways. He's been influential in a lot of places and each one is a different animal. I.e. as a Technologist I don't see how he doesn't get an A. he's arguably the most influential person in history in a whole host of special effects and media creation techniques & technologies. As a director/producer maybe a B since he's been very hit or miss, but still has multiple all-time pictures which is more than most can say. As a dad, C-, as a philanthropist, C+, as an entrepreneur A+. etc.
By the way, I think its worth mentioning that I love the format of these podcasts: discussion, interview, back-and-forth. Simple but good mix. Good stuff guys.

ReplyDeleteI can either talk for an hour about this, or not at all.
