back in the day
click on the pickle man for a bad ass set of photos by bruce davidson - the series is called "isaac bashevis singer and the lower east side." I.B.S. was the maven of ashkenazi jew authors, and according to my sources, today is the man's birthday (though he died in 1991).
the more curious can check out the exhibit at the jewish museum.

Power to the People! Good News in Iraq!
Brilliant woman steals slogan from "elite protesters" and says that our heartland counterparts are disenfranchised.

Amherst is for lovers??
So apparently Money magazine has named "Amherst Center, Massachusetts," hometown to myself and Chaucer, as well as notable JJ8 affiliates Mike Ellis, Matt Lambdin, et al.... the #3 city in the country for singles. I don't know what to make of this. I require input from wiser men and women. As an aside, I know 1 single person in Amherst who is not a student. And what is "Amherst Center?"
Amherst&Singles??
Amherst&Singles??
It's A Bird!--It's A Plane!--
--NO! It's Feldman!!!!
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, our frisbee flying friend has returned to us. (Although sadly, only for the weekend). To celebrate the grand homecoming, meet up for a Friday night of drinking and debauchery starting in the Lower East Side at Loreley (7 Rivingdon Street, between Bowery & Chrystie Streets).
The night will include early boozing, debate over Ueli Maurer, and even a rare Weiderholtz sighting.
Get those party shoes on.
